My mom used to set her passwords as Bible verses. One day I went to log on to her computer, so I asked her for the password. She told me it was Psalm 31:10. Out of curiosity, I looked up Psalm 31:10 online:
"My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak."
Needless to say, I was concerned. I asked why she had chosen that verse and she told me that it had always been one of her favorites: "Create in my a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit with in me." Took me about a minute to Google it and I had to break the news to her...the verse she quoted was actually Psalm 51:10. Mortified, she explained to me that she'd written that verse in about 20 graduation cards that she'd sent out.
I've had Psalm 51:10 memorized since then. In the summer of 2012, I wrote this song.
lyrics
Create in me, create in me
A pure heart, O God
Renew, renew
A steadfast spirit.
Renew, renew
A steadfast spirit.
I'm ready for a change.
I want to be righteous and clean
I want to be holy for you
